Some comments (mostly from kids) about the display this year: “How…..does……how…..can this…..how…..” “OMG” “Love it love it love it” “How did they know what the radio was gonna play?” “blown away! AMAZING!” “Mommy, can we make our house look like that? Please?” “Henry and Margaret’s dad is awesome!” We’re always asked what the motivation is…

At long last, we’re ready to go. Well….almost. We go live tomorrow. We have a punchlist of a few items to complete — a few more plugins, fix a light here and there, get a few candy canes in place. But, oh how it took us a while to get here. It seems as though…

2012 – Back into the swing of things

Hello and welcome! It’s been 6 months since I put down anything here, but we’re changing that now. 2012 brings a new year with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm for another great show. The big question on…well, just my mind at the moment…is what this year might hold in store? Is anything changing? Absolutely. But…

Happy New Year and thanks

January 1, 2012

Happy New Year to everyone! We’ve closed out another year here at GLC, and I’m going to call this year a smashing success. We had a fantastic response to the light show this year. Easily the most visitors we’ve had, and the well-wishers were too numerous to count. As we close the books on 2011, it’s…

High winds takes the tree topper

High winds takes the tree topper

Early on Christmas Day, we had high winds in Seattle.  Steady 30mph winds, but gusts to over 50mph. And if there is anything that can wreak havoc with Christmas light displays, it’s wind. We build our display expecting this type of weather, though. We did not escape unaffected. The wind took out the topper on…

Merry Christmas everyone

Merry Christmas everyone! If you get the opportunity, stop by the lights this weekend. The weather looks “ab-fab” (absolutely fantastic), so the light display will be on in full force. Plus, I’ll be hanging around and passing out treats to those that stop by! If we don’t see you, have a relaxing, enjoyable, exciting, fun…

Expanded hours on Christmas weekend

Yesterday was the Winter Solstice. The longest day of the year. And that means….lights! We’ve been noticing more and more cars happening by the house before 5pm and after 11pm — times outside our show schedule. I’ve been tempted to flip the switch on the show earlier or later to accommodate everyone.  (The show is…

New song added to the show

December 18, 2011
By

We ran a few promo spots for the Greenlake Elementary Christmas tree sale this year, and by all accounts it seems to have worked. The tree sale is down to its final day, and there are just a few trees left on the lot. So, that gives us room to add songs to the show. In…
