Here at Greenlake Christmas worldwide headquarters, we’re busy working on a number of initiatives. These all have one goal in mind: let’s be more sociable.
I really enjoyed seeing everyone last year who came by to see the light display. I rarely have a conversation anymore where someone doesn’t ask about the lights. Everyone seems to know that I’m this guy who goes over the top with the Christmas lights. And I don’t mind it at all. Still, the interaction feels one-sided: everyone shares their comments with me, and maybe a few others, but it’s not like the power of a social network at play.
What I really want is to let everyone interact over the light display, even interact *with* the display.
Add a song to this year’s show
With this year’s show, we had room to add one more song. I could have picked one out on my own, but I thought it would be interesting to hear what others would suggest, if only they had the opportunity.
Opportunity is knocking on the door, my friends. We’re running a little contest, and one lucky contestant will have their song synchronized to the lights and added to this year’s show. In addition, the winner will have their name and entry announced here on the blog, on our new Facebook page, over twitter, and also each and every night over the radio.
I’ve received some really good ideas so far, but there’s still time left — 1 week until the contest is over. Check it out!
Greenlake Christmas on Facebook
Greenlake Christmas has a “new” home on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/greenlakechristmas
We had a presence on FB last year, but it was really just a place to add more info about the display. It wasn’t really interactive. Hopefully, that will change this year.
Check-in at Greenlake Christmas
When you check out the display this year (you ARE coming, aren’t you?), be sure to check-in to “Greenlake Christmas” on FB while you’re here. Check-ins are automatically updated on the Greenlake Christmas FB page, and is a great way to share thoughts about the light display. For the few who somehow aren’t familiar, Facebook has mobile application support for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry, and all kinds of things in between.
I’m not looking for shameless publicity, but I do want all of our friends and neighbors to know about the light display — I want everyone to enjoy it. So, help spread the word.
Greenlake Christmas on Twitter
Greenlake Christmas lives and breathes as @greenlakexmas during the display show season on Twitter.
For the latest status on the show, late breaking news, or if you want to get in touch or ask a question — Twitter is the mode that’s always on.
Tweet your message to @greenlakexmas
If twitter is your thing, drop a mention to @greenlakexmas. Doing so has an added benefit: your message will be added to our digital FM radio station. We’re still working out the kinks, but we are working on bringing this capability to service during this season.
Nonetheless, we still want to hear from you!
