2010 was our first year for a musically synchronized light show. We experienced lots of highs (and a few lows):
- Launch delays – forces were conspiring against me to get the show launched and running. We had horrendous weather (remember the snowstorm the week of Thanksgiving? how about the Pineapple Express?), work was super-busy, I ran low on extension cords, etc. We finally got the show started on Saturday, December 3rd.
- News travels fast – I was surprised at how quickly and broadly word spread about the display around the neighborhood. Don’t get me wrong, I helped to that end and expected some “buzz”, but I’m surprised how quickly it took off. We don’t have any mechanism for counting visitors, but I’m confident exceeded one thousand visitors in 2010.
- Lotsa joy – so many visitors really liked the show. I’m not patting myself on the back, here. You know when you can tell you made someone happy? Like, really happy? I saw that countless times. The little kids are usually the best, but the best part was when a limousine pulled up out front, and party-goers were DANCING in our front yard with the lights and music cranking out of the limo.
Nonetheless, a year older = a year wiser.
